This is the proper distance to grip the paddle - shoulder width apart
This shows the entry and the catch. Twist forward at the torso - do not lung forward. Slice the blade into the water at your ankles making sure the blade is fully buried in the water. Bottom arm should be straight and top arm should have about a 45 degree bend and be at forehead height.
This is the power phase. While twisting our torso back to the neutral position, drive down with your top arm toward the bottom - muscles used are lats and abs, not arms.
At the end of the power stroke, top arm should be at shoulder level and bottom hand at your knees. Try to exit at your knees. The stroke is short, forehead to shoulders.
